An artist of diverse practices, Gao Weigang produces painting, installation, sculpture, and performance work. For his “Interior View” series, Gao painted cold interior environments that appear to depict technological control centers and suggest utopian visions for the future. He has also forged stainless steel and titanium objects, such as a gold unicorn skull, an emerald green metallic staircase, and a spinning motorized disc mounted to a wall. For Superstition (2011), Gao presented fake archaeological remains in the form of various geometric marble blocks.
